Celebrating Innovation in AI-Generated Art

As part of the AI Image Making Symposium on May 25, 2025, we invite artists, designers, and creatives to submit their most innovative AI-generated images for exhibition and awards. This is an opportunity to share cutting-edge work in AI-assisted image creation, connect with a broader creative community, and be recognised for artistic excellence.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The AI Image Making Competition is an open call for visual artists exploring artificial intelligence as a creative tool. Selected works will be printed and exhibited as part of the symposium, offering exposure to industry professionals, researchers, and creatives at the forefront of AI and media innovation.

HOW IT WORKS

• Submissions Open: 20 March 2025
• Deadline: 6:00pm, May 16, 2025
• Finalists Announced: May 20, 2025
• Exhibition & Award Ceremony: May 25, 2025

Entrants are welcome to submit work in any style or theme, with the only requirement being that AI has played a key role in the image’s creation. Whether you use MidJourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, Runway, or custom AI models, we encourage submissions that push the boundaries of art, technology, and storytelling.

PRIZES

🏆 Overall Award – $1,000 of Adobe Products
🎓 Student Award – $500 Print Voucher (open to current students)
⭐ People’s Choice Award – $300 Print Voucher (voted by attendees on the day)

All winners will receive a high quality print of their work.

Finalists will be selected by a panel of experts, with winning entries displayed in the AI Symposium Exhibition.

ENTRY FEES

💲 $30 per submission for non-students (limit of 10 entries)

💲 $10 per submission for students (limit of 10 entries)

Proceeds from entries will contribute to prizes and exhibition costs. We aim to ensure high-quality prints and an outstanding experience for both artists and attendees.

HOW TO ENTER

1. Prepare your AI-generated image(s) in high resolution (Minimum 2000px longest edge). Name your files: First & Last Name_Work Title. Save as JPEG.
2. Write a short artist statement (max 200 words) about your creative process and AI image generation platform for each entry. Output as PDF. Title PDF with your First & Last Name.
3. Submit images and Artist Statement via the before : 6:00pm, May 16, 2025

JUDGING & SELECTION

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of experts across AI, photography, art, and media—with special guest judge Anouska Phizacklea, Director of the Museum of Australian Photography. This is a unique opportunity to have your work seen and recognised by a leading figure in contemporary photography. Shortlisted works will be professionally printed and exhibited at the symposium. The People’s Choice Award will be decided by attendee votes on the day.
